ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Economic Development assists individuals wishing to start their own business to obtain Provincial and Federal Grants and Loans. This also includes improving the relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businessmen, to create long term employment opportunities. It is the goal of this department to help increase the number of Aboriginal businesses.
Pwi-di-goo-zing Ne-yaa-Zhing Advisory Services also delivers the following two programs from its office: the Working Partnership Program delivered by a Partnership Development Advisor and Aboriginal Business Programs, delivered by an External Delivery Officer.

ABORIGINAL BUSINESS CANADA
In a special agreement with Aboriginal Business Canada; Pwi-Di-Goo-Zing Ne-Yaa-Zhing Advisory Service is recognized as an “External Delivery Organization” for ABC business programs and services. Our office is staffed by an External Delivery Officer.
OBJECTIVES:
- To enhance access to business assistance for new aboriginal business start ups, as well as, existing businesses in Northwestern Ontario/Treaty #3 territory.
- To increase the number of business start ups in Northwestern Ontario/Treaty #3 area.
- In the long term, to establish an “Alternative Service Delivery” (ASD) Site in Fort Frances with a local delivery mechanism in place.
Currently, the ABC program offers assistance in four strategic priority areas:
- YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP:
A program to assist youth-owned businesses with preparation of business plans, marketing and financing the start up, expansion, modernization or acquisition of a commercially viable business, as well as, with business advisory services.
- TOURISM BUSINESSES:
Aboriginal cultural tourism that draw tourists to an area to enjoy a cultural experience that incorporates or demonstrates the customary beliefs, social structures and material traits of an Aboriginal culture. Also, eco-tourism businesses that demonstrates elements of the non-consumptive relationship between a community and its environment.
- INNOVATION:
Businesses that integrate new technology and expertise into their processes, relying on human resources to provide products and services. Other objectives include productivity improvement and development of new products, processes and services.
- TRADE and MARKET EXPANSION:
Financial support towards the cost of advertising, promotion, business planning, consulting and business advisory services for firms seeking to expand locally, regionally, inter-provincially and internationally. Also, assistance for capital and inventory is available for firms seeking to expand into new provinces/territories or into new international markets.
External Delivery Officer: Stacey Jack delivers the program throughout the Treaty Three Territory. Eligible clients include, status, non-status, metis and inuit individuals, companies and corporations.
