Weechi-it-te-win Family Services is an Indian alternative to child welfare, appointing a Native Child Welfare Planning Committee to develop a concept. The Chiefs directed that community care among the bands was: to preserve Indian culture and identity among the people, to strengthen and maintain Indian families, and to assure the growth, support and development of all the children within Indian families and communities.
